About Us

We bring you 14 years of experience fishing in Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica. Our primary business is sport fishing and we also offer a variety of other tours. When you contact us we will be more than happy to help you with in country flights and accommodations. We can also accommodate large groups up to 20 boats.

We are the official IGFA certified weigh station for northern Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Flamingo Beach has had many certified IGFA world records recorded over the past 15 years. The captains and crews on our boats are aware of the IGFA regulations for world record fishing and equipment regulations.

The most important part of our operation is the safety of our clients and we take this very seriously.

Typical Fishing Day

Click to make a reservationOn our half day fishing trips we leave Flamingo at 7:30 a.m. and return around 12:00. We provide water, soda, beer, fresh fruit, and snacks. We are fishing inshore looking for roosterfish, Spanish mackerel, bonito, snapper, grouper, jack crevele, dorado, and wahoo.

On our full day fishing trips we leave Flamingo at 7:30 a.m. and return around 4:00 p.m. We provide water, soda, beer, fresh fruit, snacks, and lunch. We are fishing offshore looking for blue, black, and striped marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, and dorado.

On our deck boat, the Southern Belle, we like to leave Flamingo at 5:00 p.m. and return around 9:00 p.m. We provide drinks, snacks, and a menu you can order from for a light dinner from Virginias sub shop. We are fishing over rock structures and artificial reefs at night with lights mounted on the boat for a variety of inshore species.

Airline and Travel Information

The Liberia International Airport is very close to us. The airport is called Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport and was named in the memory of the beloved former president of Costa Rica, a great supporter of development in Guanacaste, Liberia airport is a 40 minute drive from Flamingo Beach, and less than an hour drive to over 40 beaches ( see "Maps") on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Costa Rica.

Click to make a reservationThe airport is 17 km west of Liberia, on the great extension called Llano Grande; 12 km East of the Inter American Highway, 94 km from the Nicaraguan border and 236 km from San Jose.

Opened on November 25, 1995, the paved runway measures 2,750 meters long and 50 meters wide, with a 22,500 square meter ramp to facilitate international flights.

The airport is equipped to offer full services for fuel, cleaning, luggage handling, technical service for weight and balance certification by the Civil Aviation, and has a fire department specially equipped with paramedic services. International air service is scheduled from 6 am to 10 pm. The terminal building features immigrations, customs, airport security, anti drug controls, a bank, snack bar, restrooms and medical assistance. The staff is friendly, courteous and efficient.

Delta Airlines now has scheduled service from Atlanta (ATL) Flt. 295 to Liberia (LIR) return Flt 366 on Wed. Sat. and Sunday year round. Web site http://www.delta.com.

Continental Airlines now has 3 flight a week from Houston (HOU) making it a one day trip from the U.S. west coast to Liberia (LIR) contact Continental airlines http://www.Continental.com.

American Airlines now has 3 flights week from Miami (MIA) to Liberia (LIR) contact American Airlines at http://www.AA.com.

For our Canadian readers, folks have flown from Alberta and Saskatchewan to Minneapolis on Northwest, then directly to Liberia. Westjet and Tango (Air Canada) can fly you to Toronto to connect with Sunquest (also called Skyservice). The toll-free number for the latter is 877-485-6060. These flights, with the exception of Delta, are charters and limited to one-, two-or three-week visits and keep in mind, if you plan to stay here at the beach make sure you buy an “air-only” ticket.

Accommodations

There are several hotels in the area. They range from an all inclusive resort that has a Robert Trent Jones championship 18 hole golf course, to several smaller hotels that have pools, bars, and restaurants in them.
